Week 5

        This week, we have been studying the letter Tt.  We read a big book called, "Christina and the Frog".  We are learning to identify characters and recall details of a story.  We counted the members in our family and drew pictures of our families.  We learned to identify baby animals and their mothers.  We worked on the color purple and learned how to spell purple in a song. In Art center, we made torn paper Fall trees.  They are on display in the hallway.  Come and see!

Don't forget:  Tonight is PTA at 7pm. in the cafeteria. 

Pre-K Pep Rally Video- Check it out!

Pre-K had a celebration at the Pep Rally this morning and we got to see ourselves on the big screen in the cafeteria.  Take a look at our video!  We are singing the Alpahbet Train song.  The whole school enjoyed our video at the Pep Rally.

More Week 4 updates

                                    We also cooked "Cool Cocoa" for the letter Cc last week!
                                            That is what you see on the tables.

  

This week, we learned the letter Ff.  We learned its sound, how to write it, and words that started with Ff.  We read the Billy Goats Gruff and practiced retelling a story by acting it out.  We are working on using our big voice  to get along with our friends and keeping our hands to ourselves. We are learning to identify the color blue, sort objects by color, and compare heights of objects.  We have been learning color songs to go along with our color unit.  Each child will bring home a blue poetry folder with the color songs.  Please read them with your child over the weekend and then return the folder on Monday so we can add more poems. We reviewed our senses again this week.  Above you will see some pictures from our taste testing last week.  We tasted salty pretzels, sour gummy worms, bitter baking chocolate, and sweet tarts.  Some of us liked the tastes and others made some funny faces! 

Week 4 - News

Today, we went to the library for storytime and we checked out a book.  We will keep this book until next Tuesday. Please have your child keep this book in their backpack when they are not reading it. I have provided you a baggie to keep your book in so that it doesn''t get ruined by spills in our backpacks.

Also, Thursday is Fall Individual picture day.  We will take our yearbook pictures at 9:05.  If you want pictures for yourself, please return the picture packet by Thursday with payment in the envelope. Don't forget to fill out the packet information. 

On Friday, all students and staff members are encouraged to wear a college shirt to school to show our students the importance of higher education and setting goals for the future! We will also have a Pep Rally in the cafeteria that morning. Please have your child participate so our class can win the Spirit Stick for having the most college shirts.  Thanks so much!

Week 3 in Pre-K

This week, we start learning our alphabet.  We will be going out of order. Our first letter is Cc. We will learn our 5 senses- seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, and tasting. Our color this week is blue. We will also begin learning to sort objects by color, shape and size.

Week 1 & 2

Welcome to our GFAA Pre-K class blog!

We have been very busy these first two weeks. We have learned all about our class rules from our friend, Wiggles. We read a story, "The Day the Monster Came to School." We learned about our monster manners at school.  We use above the line (good manners) at school and not below the line (bad manners). We have worked on the colors - Red, Yellow, and Brown. You may hear your child singing some of our color songs. We read a series of books by Audrey Penn.  The kids loved the "Kissing Hand" the best. We are also working on our names.  We made the first letter in our names with playdough. Here are some pictures for you to see our great work!
