GFAA                                                                                                                                                                                    June 4, 2013
Dear Parents,
We have had a WONDERFUL year at GFAA Pre-K and have enjoyed watching your child grow and learn SO much.  It has been a pleasure to get to know your child and your family this year and we are looking forward to another OUTSTANDING year in 2013-2014.
We would like to invite your child and your family to participate in an exciting learning opportunity in the new school year.  We have a mixed-age Kindergarten-1st grade classroom.  Because your child has been at GFAA and knows and understands the routines and procedures, this type of classroom will enable the teacher to move faster into the curriculum without spending the usual amount of time the first weeks of school teaching students “how to be an All-Star”.  Your child has also had a full year developing the stamina it takes to attend and participate in an all day learning setting.  These skills along with other skills Mrs. Hargrove has taught your child makes him/her more ready than the typical new kindergarten student.
Another aspect of this setting is that your child should remain with this teacher for both the kindergarten and 1st grade year.  This is another learning opportunity that enables the child to move forward into the curriculum quickly at the beginning of the next year.  The transition is seamless in that the teacher knows exactly where your child ended the previous year and is able to start teaching right away rather than spending time developing a relationship and getting to know where your child is academically.
There is much research supporting both of these settings and if you are interested I will be glad to forward some of it to you.  Also, I realize that you may have questions before you make this important decision.  I look forward to visiting with you and helping you make the best decision for your child and your family.
I believe this to be a great learning setting for children and will be excited for you to join us.  However, if you have reservations or make the decision that you are not interested, we will place him/her in one of our wonderful Kindergarten teacher’s classrooms where there will be equally great learning experiences.
Please call the office and talk to me or make an appointment to ask me questions if you need to.   Our office number is: 972.262.5000.
Happy Learning,
Vikki Vogel, Principal, GFAA
