Farm Field Trip Pics

A big thanks to Karson's mom for sharing her pictures from the farm with me.  I was a bad teacher and forgot my camera in the classroom.
The day started  with the ground a little wet and the wind a little chilly!
The farmers thought we may not come so they put the animals away. While we waited for them to get set back up, we played in the Maze and tried to jump on the Bounce House, but it was too slippery.

Still waiting, we played ball toss and horse shoes.

Next, we played on their awesome playground that looks like a train.

Our tummies were rumbling, so we ate lunch out of the wind in a shelter with picnic tables.
Dr. Pepper time for Mrs. Hargrove.  You caught me!

After lunch, we went on a Hay Ride w/o the hay. It was more like a wagon ride pulled by a tractor.
The wind has picked up and we are chilly, but time to see the animals finally.
Petting time!  We got brushes to comb the goats and sheep.
They had a sweet bunny that we got to pet too!
 Watch out for the horns!
Here we come!  There were also chickens, a donkey, a horse, a bull, and sleepy pigs to see in the barn.
 Time to ride a pony!

 Hang on tight!
 Yee Ha!
 Ride 'em cowboys!

What's with the pink horse?  Horses aren't pink!  Looks like someone had a birthday party at the farm and the farmer made this pony into My Little Pony!
The wind has picked up even more and its a chilly ride!
Aww!  The farm sure was fun, but we are so glad to be on the warm bus!Time to head back to school and get out of the wind!
A big thanks to the wonderful parents and grandparents that braved the cold with us.  I really appreciate all your help with the Pre-K students!  We made memories!  Our first school bus ride was pretty cool too!

Week 31

We have been learning all about insects and spiders.  We studied the life cycle of a butterfly and painted beautiful butterflies that are hanging in our hall.  We wrote about our favorite insect and drew pictures of them. We learned about the body parts of a butterfly and the difference between a butterfly and a moth.  See if your child can tell you some facts they learned this week.
This week, we studied our last letter of the alphabet.  Your child should know all of their letters, sounds and how to write each letter.  We will continue reviewing daily.  Next week, we will start working on putting our letters together to make words.  We will be studying a different word family each week till the end of school.
We reviewed patterns this week and practiced making patterns at computer class this week.
Don't forget to have your child return their library book each Wednesday.  We had six children that did not get a book this week because they did not bring it back.
Remember to study sight words daily.  We will have a test on them at the end of the year.  Also, we will have our last CPAA Pre-K test in May.

Please have your child wear RED on Monday to support West ISD!

Below are pictures of us using watercolors to make our butterflies!

                              Butterflies wings are symmetrical!

We worked hard to make our butterflies look like real ones.

                                           Painting is hard work!

                                                    So much fun!

Week 29/30

Sorry for the delay in posts!  If your child didn't tell you,  I was out sick all last week and we had several substitutes.  I had  pneumonia.  It was awful!  Feeling much better now.  It was nice to get so many hugs when I got back to school from the kids.

Don't forget to go to the GFAA Carnival at school this Saturday from 11-3 pm.

Last week,  we learned all about farms and farm animals.  We studied several farm animals and learned how to draw them.  We made a farm book too!  Our letter of the week was Jj and we reviewed counting one to one.

This week, we have been studying about insects and spiders.  The kids have learned so much!  Ask them to tell you the difference between an insect and a spider.  We learned how many legs they have, how many body parts they have, and the names of the body parts.  We learned a song about the insects body parts called, "Head, Thorax, and Abdomen".  See if your child can sing it! Our letter this week was Yy and we learned about symmetry in Math.

We have started going to computer lab with Mrs. Morrison on Tuesday afternoons.  She is teaching us computer skills and lessons on things we are studying in class.  We have gone three times so far.  The computers are Netbooks- small laptops with a mouse added to make it easier for the little ones.

Reminders:  We will be going on a field trip to the farm April 23rd.  I am needing parents to help out on the trip.  If you are available to help, please let me know.  Thanks for your support! Also, we need your child to bring a white T-shirt by Monday.  I sent the letter below home earlier this week.

Dear Parents,
We will be going to Country Critters Farm on Tuesday, April 23rd for a field trip.  We would like to make a “Field Trip T-shirt” for the children to wear that day.  We need each child to bring one new, plain white t-shirt to school by Monday, April  15 th.  It needs to fit comfortably and have no pockets or printing on it.

We are going to decorate the shirts with a farm scene.  We are in need of any old crayons that you have to help make our shirts.  (Especially:  black, brown, green and blue crayons for the animals, grass, and sky)  The pictures are made on sandpaper, which uses up the crayons very quickly.  If you have any crayons that you can donate, we would greatly appreciate them.

                                        Thank you,
                                        Garner Pre-Kindergarten
