Week 36

This week in Pre-K, we continued studying about word families.  We worked on the -og word family.  We know how to spell lots of words now.
We are also learning about addition in Math. In Science, we are studying about the ocean.  We read lots of books about whales, sharks, sea horses, starfish, and rainbow fish. On Outdoor day, we went outside to the garden and watercolor painted at the picnic tables.  It was fun to have class outdoors. Below are a few pictures of us painting sea horses. For Picnic snack day, we ate our snack outside in the garden too. Quiet day is tomorrow. Make sure your child has his/her favorite book to read and a small pillow to cuddle on.
I have finished testing all students for the Spring Pre-K CPAA test and I have great news.  Every Pre-K student's Literacy & Math averages were At Expectaion or Above Expectation for the year!  I will send your child's individual scores home in the Report Card on the last day of school.
Reminder:  Keep studying those Pre-K sight words!  I will be testing them soon.

 The playground equipment was cool!

The rock wall was really neat!

Lots of pics from the tennis court where we had Splash ball fun!  It was a hot day and we cooled off with a little water fun.

Time for a treat!   Thank you to Mrs. Mahone for the delicious popsicles.

Week 35

Wow!  The school year has kicked into high gear and so much is going  on this time of year. I have just finished the Spring CPAA test on all students. They have made so much progress since the Fall.  It is amazing to see. I'm so proud of them.
Here are some things that we have been studying about these past couple of weeks: word families, rhyming, plants, butterflies, mother's day, reviewing numbers, starting addition/subtraction, water conservation, and the water cycle.
Our Sight word test will be coming up soon.  Please make sure your child knows all of the sight words on our Pre-K ring. Also continue to review these during the summer so they will be ready for Kindergarten.
Don't forget to bring a sack lunch and drinks for the picnic on Friday!

Week 34

College/Career Awareness Week          May 6th-10th
Sorry for the turned photos.  I forgot to turn them before I loaded them to the blog.  Career Day Parade pictures below. We paraded through the halls dressed in the career of our choice.  Thanks for participating!
Jaibryan wants to be a basketball player.

Milan wants to be a vet.

Roman wants to be a doctor.

Hunter wants to be a baseball player and Kaden a football player.

Micah wants to be a chef and Trey a firefighter.

Morgan wants to be a nurse and Noah a business man.
Ethan A. wants to be a soccer player.

Kolten wants to be a soccer player too and Jadyn a ballerina.

                                        Don't we look cute!

Brenden wants to be a police man.

Callie wants to be a baker.

Mrs. Hargrove thought she would be a vet and changed her mind to become a teacher.  Micah is a chef.

Roman and Brooke are doctors.  Aren't they adorable!
Wednesday was Career day at GFAA and we got to see a real musician.  He talked to us about making music a career as he had done. He writes songs and sells them.  We made up a song and sang it with him.  It was fun!

Next, we got to hear what a police officer does.  Officer Brandi showed us all the tools she has to wear to do her job.  We talked about when to use 911.  We even got to see inside her police car. They have computers in their cars. The kids thought this was cool.

The firemen came for a brief visit.  We got to look at the firetruck and hear just a few details before they got called to a 911 emergency.  Duty called and they had to leave us.

Last, we went to the media room to listen to an underwater film maker.  She even showed us a video of some of the animals that she has filmed.
The picture below shows what she has to wear while filming underwater.

Parents thank you so much for all the wonderful showering of gifts for Teacher Appreciation.  Mrs.  Stubblefield (Ms. Carroll's new name- she got married last weekend) and I really appreciate your thoughtfullness.  It was so sweet of you to think of us.  What cute and creative gifts! Also a big thanks for all the breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided by our GFAA PTA.  It was all yummy!

Today was F is for fingerpainting day!

It was a good day to fingerpaint since we couldn't go out to recess on this rainy day.
